Date Night

Derek and I ended up getting to have a date night on Saturday.  I actually did my hair and put on make-up for the first time in a week!  That's right, the ponytail streak from vacation finally ended.  Like normal, I went a little picture crazy and Derek even got in on the action.

On the way home, for some reason I wanted to get one more picture.  Derek felt left out.  I never did get that picture...I couldn't stop laughing.

Quonochontaug, Rhode Island

Last week Derek and I flew up to Providence to meet up with the rest of my family at our cottage.  It was an amazing 5 days.  We had hung out with my grandparents, relaxed on the beach, swam, took some long walks, played a bunch of card games and enjoyed our time together.  I am so thankful for the time I got to spend with my family and I was long overdue for a good visit with grams.  I am so happy I got to have this vacation with them.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

All was right with the world.

This place is really special to me because it holds a lot of family history and it is home to some of my favorite childhood memories.  The cottage itself has been in our family for along time...my great-grandparents spent time there.  Wowza.  I also think it's the most beautiful place in the world, but I might be a little biased...

Beware of picture overload...beginning now...sorry!

And this is proof that we actually braved the cold water and got in!

The water was so clear!

Mom did not make it in, but she did watch us freeze.

Are you getting sick of the pictures yet?!  We took grams and grandpa out to dinner one night too.  She is still one feisty lady, let me tell you...And aren't they cute?

And it rained one day, so we headed to Watch Hill for some sight-seeing and shopping.  Matt and Derek were thrilled, but there's not much to do when the weather is bad, and I do come from a family of girls :).

All the gals.
I want to go back...wouldn't you?

Happy Father's Day & Happy Birthday!

My dad is one of the wisest, smartest, hard-working people I know.  He has always made me feel supported, valuable, and loved.  He never fails to tell me how proud he is of us girls.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

Lucky for him, and me, I got to spend all day with him and most of tomorrow.  It's the first time the whole family has been together for Father's Day since I was in high school!

It's also Andrea's birthday!  Happy Birthday to one of my best friends!  I won't get to see her today, but hopefully soon...

She's sassy, she's smart, she's caring, she's real, and she's gorgeous.

Happy Birthday Andrea!

Summer To-Do List

With the start of summer comes endless free time, lots of wonderful plans for this time, and the realization that it will all end too quickly.  Because I am aware of this, I want to point myself in the right direction...

1.  Work on my house...I need to touch up the paint, clean out/sell a lot of junk, and possibly finish a few projects.

2. Be content with the job I will be working come August.  This is something that I really can't predict right now, but I am hoping that everything will fall into place.  I just keep reminding myself, "everything happens for a reason."

3. Run at least four times a week.  This is something that I really need to do if I want to run a marathon anytime soon...I need to build up my base and be consistent with my training.

4. Take some time to relax.  I don't get to do this the rest of the year with teaching and coaching, so I want to make sure that I really take this time to slow down, do some things I want to do, and enjoy myself.

5. Cook at least one meal a week.  (I know, I should have aimed higher, but I will start small.)

Quick Trip

At the beginning of the week, Derek and I headed to the beach for a quick trip.  We got to see Corey and Zach and relax with them for a bit.  Thank you so much for having us, it was so fun! (Sorry for the bad pictures...all I had was my phone.)

The beach was amazing.

Dinner was so good!

And then we wandered around for a bit.

There was a blue marlin fishing tournament there...these are the winners.  Holy Cow!

The fish didn't even fit in the bed of the pick-up truck.

For someone who normally avoids pictures...

He worked his way into quite a few. :)
