Home for the Holidays

I got to go north for Christmas this year and it was amazing.  I saw a lot of family and friends, shopped, and did a whole lot of... nothing.  It was fabulous.  We watched all the classic holiday movies, ate too much, and laughed until our stomach's hurt.  It was everything it should be and so much more.  I am so thankful that I have such a wonderful family.

The first night back in town, I got lots of cuddles from this guy.  What a welcome?!  I couldn't be happier!

Claire gave the girls matching pj's for Christmas.  Aren't they cute?!

We all took turns holding Ben.  Dziadek always knows how to get Ben to fall asleep.  My dad goes by "Dziadek", instead of grandpa because it's Polish and it's what we called our grandfather, his father, as children.  It's a great tradition and I love that he is continuing it.

The three musketeers again.  I feel like they should be in a commercial for something.  Who does this?!

Ben spent some time on his playmat with me.  I love his smiles!  Don't those dimples just make you melt?!

We went to my cousin Maggie and her boyfriend Jimmy's house the day before Christmas Eve to see everyone and to see their new place!!  It's amazing.  So cozy.  Nice work Marge!  While there, Bailey was quite the character.  She was trying to pull Matt off the couch in this picture.  When she couldn't do it on her own, she got Maggie and Uncle Bobby to help.  What a smart cookie. Tinkerbell was just observing (and barking).

Both my mom and dad have December birthdays so we made sure to sing to them and celebrate while we were all together.

On Christmas Eve we went to the children's mass, as usual, but this time we actually had a kid with us!  - if you count Ben :).  He was so good and slept all through church.  After, we had our usual photo shoot.  It's a good thing that my family likes pictures as much as me...

I can't get enough of this cute kid!  Paula is pretty cute, too.

Dziadek and Grandma with Ben.

And this is how Catherine get's Ben to laugh :).  If only you could hear the high pitched noises that come out of her mouth when she makes faces like this.

That's a good one.  Makes me smile.

Santa came!!  We are all 5 year olds at heart...the new baby just let's us express it a little more...

He has no idea what's going on, and then he knows to smile.  Because on Christmas, everyone knows to smile! That and we make really funny faces at him.

There was a lot of this too.  Taking a nap is so much more justified when you do it with a sleeping baby.  And he is like a little heater.  So cozy!

I can't imagine life without him.  Obsessed Aunt?  Who me?  Yes.  I admit it whole-heartedly.

Saying goodbye to this kid broke my heart, but it was such a great trip home!!

Mountain Weekend

In December a few of my oldest, closest friends and I rented a mountain house for a few days.  We relaxed, lounged, hiked, talked non-stop and had the time of our lives.  It was perfect.

After the first night of celebrating Corey's big 3-0, we woke up to beautiful weather!  It was about 65 degrees and so sunny.  We sat out on the deck for hours enjoying the beautiful mountain air and laughing until our stomachs hurt.

Check out that veiw!

What a cute little house?!

The second day we went for a hike around the cabin.  We managed not to get lost and we even found a cute little pond and a man who I swear was Santa Clause himself, in the flesh.  He was even eating cookies when we saw him :).

We stopped at the waterfall to take some pictures...

Andrea and Corey

Sarah and Lou

Liz and I.  :)

This is one of my favorite pictures of the bunch!

To get in the holiday tradition we made some gingerbread houses.  Mine is very amateur.  Sarah's, on the other hand, is pure professional.

About 8 years ago we started playing Cranium together, with Andrea and Liz on one team "the dingles" and Sarah and I on the other.  We have been fighting to be called the true champions of cranium ever since.  This weekend was no different.  It wouldn't be a weekend with these gals without the humdingers, sculpterades, and creative cats.  By the way, if you have never played Cranium - go out, get it, and give it a try.

We also tried a new game, Cards Against Humanity.  It's pretty similar to Apples to Apples, but just a little less PG.  Super funny, super fun.  Nice pick Lou!!

And we tried to get a good pic.

It only took a few tries.  Love these girls!

There's pilot mountain in the distance.  Gorgeous.

We try to get a weekend in together every year, more, if we are lucky.  Hopefully I get to see them all again soon!!!

Here is a link to our trip from this summer.  And here is more from our trip two years ago.

I headed up north for Thanksgiving and it was such an awesome visit.  I got to spend time with my family and start my Christmas shopping.

My mom, little sister and I went for a long walk in the abnormally warm weather...

We spoiled little Benjamin rotten with attention, love, and cuddles...

We were all very thankful to spend Thanksgiving with the family...

I got to have breakfast with some great friends...

And we all got together to take a Christmas card picture.  Here are some out-takes...

Check out Ben's face!!

One of my favorites of the two of them.

Overall, it was a relaxing trip and I am so thankful that I got a chance to spend time with everyone.
