Back to Fit

I'll get back to my vacation overview on Wednesday :) Today, I'm going to start a new Monday "thing."  Bare with me... 

I used to be an athlete.  I was a swimmer and then a runner. I swam my entire life, through high school and college.  I even swam when I coached post-college.  When swimming got old, I started running.  Let's be honest - I started running because I liked to eat (and drink), and swimming twice a week just wasn't cutting it.  

Running started as a chore and quickly became a habit, a happy place, and an escape from technology.  I ran three half-marathons and two marathons, and I was in the best shape of my life.  And then life got crazy, things got hectic, I moved, and all of a sudden,I woke up yesterday (errr, a few months ago) and I was incredibly out of shape!  What is going on?!  I don't know, but I don't like it.  

Over the next few months, I am going to document my journey back to being a fit me.  I wrote about the 10 mile race I did a few weeks ago and that was the first of many steps in recognizing this needed change.  I have three races scheduled for this summer.  Two small ones and one big one.  I am going to document my weekly training on here and share with you my highs and my lows.  Get pumped- it might not be exciting- but it will be real.  

Week 1 of Training: June 22-28

I felt like poop.  I had just come back from three weeks of vacation, I had a bad cold and my allergies were out of control, but I got some workouts in!   

Monday: 4 mile run (I think I stopped every mile to walk ) 
Tuesday: 5 mile walk home from work
Wednesday: 3 mile run (weirdly, I felt good) + volleyball game
Thursday: 2.5 mile slow run
Friday: Off 
Saturday: 6 miles! (my longest run in weeks - it was not pretty and I wish I would had brought tissues - hello allergies - but I did it!!)
Sunday - Off 

Total : 15.5 miles 

It's not amazing, but it's a decent start.  This week I've added to it and I've got a plan, so hopefully I can keep moving forward and feeling better.  Here is a picture from my run on Sunday.  The weather was gorgeous and that definitely helped to motivate me! 


 Next up, healthier eating.  Yikes.  This, I struggle with. A lot.

Ugh. I need to do this too! Should we hold each other accountable? Workweek hustle on FitBit?? But in the mean time, YGG!

Yes!! I lost my fitbit a few weeks ago, but I have a new one coming next week. Let's do some challenges!!
